Speed, Capacity, and Build Details
Transfer Speed
The MOVE Speed drive offers significantly higher performance for large file transfers. It provides read speeds up to 520MB/s and write speeds up to 450MB/s. This solid-state technology is faster than standard USB 3.1 drives. In contrast, the THKAILAR drive delivers a maximum read speed of 120MB/s. While both support plug-and-play use, the MOVE Speed model is better suited for moving high-resolution videos or large photo libraries quickly. The THKAILar unit is adequate for basic documents or smaller media files, but you will notice a delay with bulk data. If speed is your priority, the MOVE Speed V series has a clear advantage.
Storage Capacity
Capacity is the next major differentiator between these two options. The MOVE Speed drive comes with 512GB of storage space. This allows you to store hundreds of gigabytes of photos, videos, and documents without needing to delete old files frequently. The THKAILar drive is available in a 256GB configuration. While 256GB is sufficient for moderate use, it holds half the data of the MOVE Speed option. You might find yourself managing storage more often with the THKAILar model. If you need more room for your media library, the MOVE Speed drive provides the larger capacity you likely need.
Build Quality
Both drives use metal casings, but the materials differ. The MOVE Speed drive features a high-quality zinc alloy case. This material offers excellent resistance to waterproofing, dust, drops, high temperatures, and magnetic interference. It is built for durability in harsh environments. The THKAILar drive also uses a sleek metal design and is described as highly durable. However, the data does not specify the exact metal alloy or detailed protection ratings for the THKAILar model. The MOVE Speed drive explicitly lists its protective properties, giving it a slight edge in known durability specifications.
Connector Types
Both drives are designed for dual-interface use, allowing you to connect to multiple device types. The MOVE Speed drive includes a USB 3.2 interface for computers and a Type-C interface for Android phones and iPhones. The THKAILar drive features a USB-A 3.1 connector for PCs and tablets, along with a USB-C 3.1 connector for smartphones. Both support plug-and-play functionality without additional software. The MOVE Speed uses a modern USB-C for computers, while the THKAILar retains the traditional USB-A. Your choice depends on whether your computer has available USB-C or USB-A ports.
Physical Dimensions
Size and portability are important for on-the-go use. The MOVE Speed drive measures 4.29 inches in length, 3.12 inches in width, and 0.98 inches in height. It is a larger, more substantial unit. The THKAILar drive is much more compact, measuring 2.6 inches in length, 0.8 inches in width, and 0.29 inches in height. The THKAILar model is significantly smaller and easier to carry in a pocket or small bag. If you prioritize a discreet form factor that does not bulk up your carry-on gear, the THKAILar drive is the better choice.
Which drive fits your needs best?
Users needing fast large file transfers
The MOVE SPEED drive delivers up to 520MB/s read speeds and 450MB/s write speeds. This solid-state performance is significantly faster than standard USB 3.1 drives. You save time when moving large videos or photos between devices. The dual USB-C interfaces ensure compatibility with both computers and Android phones for efficient data management.
Budget buyers with smaller storage needs
The THKAILAR drive offers 256GB of storage capacity with up to 120MB/s read speeds. It features both USB-A and USB-C connectors, allowing easy connection to older PCs and modern smartphones. Its compact metal design is portable and durable. This model suits users who do not require maximum transfer speeds for their daily file backups.
Those wanting maximum storage capacity
If you need more space, the MOVE SPEED option is available in 512GB configurations. It combines high capacity with superior read and write speeds. The zinc alloy case provides waterproof and dust-proof protection. You get a robust drive that handles large media libraries efficiently while maintaining compatibility with iPhone 15 and 16 series devices.
